Dear Mr Cole

REF NO:  4377.1
I am writing to confirm that Middlesbrough Council has now completed its
search for the information you requested on 17th February 2014.

In your request you asked for the following information:

1) Do you have a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and/or Policy (or
similar)?  If so please attach.

Response: This is incorporated into our One Planet Living Action plan - a
copy of the document is attached below. Please note however this is
currently being rewritten to accommodate Council resources. Please also
note that Council Service plans also include Climate change adaptation
priorities too.

2) Has this document been adopted by Council or Cabinet (or similar), if
so, when?
Response: Yes, this happened in November 2011.

3) Has a Councillor been assigned to champion this Strategy/Policy (or
similar), if so, who?

Response: No, however the Mayor endorsed the One Planet Living plan
originally. We also have several of our Councillors that are closely
aligned to this work and are very supportive including the Deputy Mayor
Cllr David Budd. Cllr Julia Rostron (Chair of Middlesbrough Environment
City) and Executive Member for Environment Cllr Nicky Walker.

4) Is the strategy/policy (or similar) supported by an
action/programme/project plan? If so, please attach.

Response: Yes, priority actions are assigned each year to reflect the
commitments of the One Planet Living Action Plan and help delivery of the
programme.

5) Is this plan delivering on time and to budget?

Response: The Plan is currently being reviewed and re-aligned to cope with
the challenges of resource and officer time. Initially progress of this is
very good and we hope to have a much more focused and practical plan in
place soon that will help us achieve all commitments    to climate
adaptation and sustainability.

6)  What are those timescales and budget?

Response:  The Plan has short, medium and long term actions/goals up to
2025.

7)  Are progress reports provided to Cabinet/Council (or similar), if so,
please attach.
Response:  An Annual Review is provided. A copy of the latest report is
attached below.

If you have any queries about this response, please do not hesitate to
contact me direct on (01642) 729696/729698 or email
