Dear Waisang,
We refer to your Freedom of Information request received on 13/10/2023 about the

applicable).
Those parts of the University’s response (together with the details of how to ask the
University to review the management of your request, or thereafter to seek a review
by the Scottish Information Commissioner, should you wish to do so – please see
below) constitutes the notice in writing that the information specified is not held by
the University which is required under section 17 of the Freedom of Information
(Scotland) Act 2002 (“FOISA”) and under Regulation 10(4)(a) of the Environmental

-If all full time spots were filled before the end of the clearing period- please
specify when the university confirmed that it would no longer accept any
further full time students via that clearing period?
This information is exempt under Section 17: Information not held. We do not keep
records of the specific dates of course closures, but most courses are available
throughout the full clearing cycle until early September. For information, the
University publishes available Clearing vacancies throughout the Clearing cycle until
capacity on a course is reached or shortly before courses commence, depending on
availability.
- At the end of the clearing period, how many full time student places remained
unfulfilled?
This information is exempt under Section 17: Information not held as we do not
record it. When it comes to student places, each Scottish University is funded for a
total number of student places available to all full and part time eligible students,
consisting of both new and returning students. The total number of places funded is
freely available on the Scottish Funding Council website -
https://www.sfc.ac.uk/funding/funding-announcements/funding-
announcements.aspx?#2023-24 Separately to these funded places, universities can
also recruit students from the rest of the UK and internationally without any lower or
upper limit on numbers.
This concludes the University’s response.
