Cleaning of pools in Red House Park, Great Barr, Birmingham

The request was successful.

Dear Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please could you supply me with dates when the pools in Red House Park were last cleared of debris with particular reference to any areas of drains leading to and from either of the pools. I understand from a local resident that heavy rain fall has resulted in the pools flooding their banks on occasions due to lack of maintenance and this in turn has led to problems with some ground floor flats on Monksfield Ave Great Barr being left vulnerable to flood . May I ask if you have a maintenance plan for the pools and if so may I have a copy. Do you propose to undertake any work on the pools to reduce flood risk to the nearby ground floor flats.
I await your response.

Yours faithfully,

Lorraine Binsley

Dear Ms Lorraine Binsley,
Information Request - FS-Case-157532487
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. In response to your
request I can confirm the following:
I refer to your recent Freedom of Information request concerning the Pool
at Red House Park: Please could you supply me with dates when the pools in
Red House Park were last cleared of debris with particular reference to
any areas of drains leading to and from either of the pools. I understand
from a local resident that heavy rain fall has resulted in the pools
flooding their banks on occasions due to lack of maintenance and this in
turn has led to problems with some ground floor flats on Monksfield Ave
Great Barr being left vulnerable to flood . May I ask if you have a
maintenance plan for the pools and if so may I have a copy. Do you propose
to undertake any work on the pools to reduce flood risk to the nearby
ground floor flats. We respond as follows: The pools were last cleared of
debris on 23 August 2019, as per the weekly time sheet attached. At this
visit all debris was cleared from the trash screen and checks were carried
out that the adjacent manhole in the footpath was clear. With regards to a
maintenance plan, regular inspections and debris removal are carried out
where necessary. There are currently no proposed projects to reduce the
flood risk at this site, but we will continue to monitor conditions and
act appropriately.
