Clarification on Gender Statistics
Dear Insolvency Service,
Please answer the following queries in relation to your published statistics on individual insolvency:
1. Please clarify how "gender" is defined for the purpose of the published statistics. Does male and female relate to biological sex rather than gender?
2. How is a transgender person recorded for the purpose of these statistics?
3. If the way in which transgender individuals are recorded has changed since these statistics were first published, please provide the date on which the change took effect.
3. Please clarify if the recorded gender is the self-identified gender of the person concerned, whether a person must hold a GRC in order to be recorded as their acquired gender or whether gender information is strictly limited to the biological sex of the individual.
4. Please provide details of how many (if any) individuals have been recorded for the purpose of these statistics as their acquired gender rather than their biological sex at birth for the last 3 complete years.
Yours faithfully,
Ms A Cope
