Clacton Beaches Are '999/112' Only

Brian Green made this Freedom of Information request to Tendring District Council

Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Tendring District Council,

I have been informed by several people that use Clacton beaches that they can no longer receive or make mobile telephones there.

Please advise what discussions you have had about limiting mobile telephony to 999/112 only by electronic communication, letter, face-to-face or audio/video call with any of the following:

1. Essex PFCC
2. Essex Police
3. Essex County County
5. Any provider of mobile telephony services

Yours faithfully,

Brian Green

Corporate Information Manager, Tendring District Council

Dear Mr Green,

Thank you for your email, received 08/04/2020, where you requested
information about calls that are able to be made on Clacton beaches.

From our preliminary assessment, it is clear that we will not be able to
answer your request without further clarification. In particular, it would
be useful to know exactly what you mean when you say “limiting mobile
telephony to 999/112 only”. For example, are you asking whether Tendring
District Council has locked down the mobile networks so that only calls of
this type are permitted? Or do you mean the availability of mobile signal?
Or perhaps you mean something else?

Once I have received clarification, I will be able to reconsider your
request. If this clarification is not received within three months your
request will be considered to have lapsed. Under section 1(3) of the
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), a public authority need not comply with
a request unless any further information reasonably required to locate the
information is supplied.

I look forward to hearing from you.
