Civil Procedure Rules PD 51ZC - Paper Determinations Pilot: Evaluation

The request was successful.

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Para 1.2 of the PD 51ZC (The Small Claims Determination Pilot) provides: "Evaluation may be undertaken as the pilot proceeds and an interim report or reports may be made before the end of the pilot."

In reply to my FOIA request number 220517006 of May 2022 the Ministry kindly confirmed that:
"HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) will collect and collate data in relation to the
Small Claims Paper Determination pilot on behalf of the Civil Procedure Rule Committee.
This will enable regular monitoring and allow for evaluation to take place at the appropriate
point, which will consider both qualitative and quantitive data, such as volumes and
outcomes of cases in the pilot and experiences of those involved with the pilot."

Please confirm if an interim report of the evaluation of this Pilot will be published and, if so, when. Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Tony N Guise
