Cisco and the British Innovation Gateway

Pete Swabey made this Freedom of Information request to UK Trade and Investment

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear UK Trade and Investment,

Earlier this year, network equipment provider Cisco announced that it will invest $500 million in a project entitled the British Innovation Gateway.

The company pledged to build two 'innovation' centres here in the UK over the next 10 years, as well as running competitions for small businesses and offering consultancy.

I hereby request any documents your department holds that
describe the nature of this commitment from Cisco, and explain what progress has been made in the project so far.

Specifically, please provide any information that decribes who, or what, will be recipient of Cisco's $500 million investment, and exactly what the company has told the UK government that it will spend the money on.

Yours faithfully,

Pete Swabey
