Circle and Nottingam Treatment Centre

F Shipman made this Freedom of Information request to NHS Nottingham North and East Clinical Commissioning Group

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, NHS Nottingham North and East Clinical Commissioning Group should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear NHS Nottingham North and East Clinical Commissioning Group,

I understand that a hospital company called Circle have a contract to operate a treatment Centre in Nottingham. The latest available accounts for Circle show a loss of approximately £8 million.

Please answer the following questions:

1. What due diligence was undertaken on Circle's financial health prior to awarding them the contract?
2. In view of the Carillion issues which have been well publicised, what contingency plans do commissioners have to protect patients in the eventuality of financial failure by Circle?
3. In light of Circle walking away from a contract to manage Hinchingbrooke Hospital, what penalties are in place to discourage Circle from walking away from the Nottingham Treatment centre contract if it were to become unprofitable?

Yours faithfully,

F Shipman
