I would like to request the following data under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:

1. How many Fixed Penalty Notices has your council handed out in 2018 for the littering of cigarette butts?
2. How much is your FPN for littering cigarette butts?
3. How many FPN’s have not been paid within the allocated time frame, and subsequently gone to court for littering cigarette butts in 2018?

Freedom of Information Act 2000 Response

I am very sorry for the delay in providing you with a response to your request which is due to an administrative oversight. Further to our acknowledgement we can now respond to your request for information dated 20/06/2019 asking about Fixed Penalty Notices - cigarette butts.

We have dealt with your request in accordance with ‘your right to know’ under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), which entitles you to be provided with a copy of any information ‘held’ by a public authority, unless an appropriate exemption applies.

In your email of 20/06/2019 you asked the following questions:

How many Fixed Penalty Notices has your council handed out in 2018 for the littering of cigarette butts?
How much is your FPN for littering cigarette butts?
How many FPN’s have not been paid within the allocated time frame, and subsequently gone to court for littering cigarette butts in 2018?

The response to your request is:

None.
£50 if paid within 15 days, £75 if paid within 29 days, maximum penalty on conviction £2,500.
None.
