Dear Daniel Green,
Thank you for your email enquiring about "financial investment" into
Christmas decorations for the town of Lewes.
I am afraid that I can only provide the information since 2002, as records
are not available before this.
We have two main areas where we provide decorations in Lewes. The first is
the Christmas trees at the War Memorial and the Cilffe High Street
precinct.
The tree at the memorial is supplied by the Lewes Town Council, although
the district council pays for electrical connections, lights etc.
The Christmas tree at the Cliffe High Street precinct is paid for by Lewes
District Council, including erection, lighting, electricity and removal.
This tree has been installed since 2004.
I attach a breakdown of the costs, which as you can see, total £12225.39
since 2002.

The second area where we provide Christmas lighting is at the Tourist
Information centre and Lewes House. These have been provided since
December 2007.
The lights for the Tourist Information centre cost £34.99 per set. Two
sets have been purchased.
The lights for Lewes House cost £1205 to purchase in Aug 2007. They cost
approximately £500 to install and remove each Christmas.

I am afraid that I do not have any information regarding "non-council"
investment in Christmas decorations.

Thank you for your enquiry.
