The request was partially successful.

Dear Halton Borough Council,

Please can you advise on Following:

1) The average number of Social Workers a child has per year from 2013 to date

2) The main reason for the high number of Social Worker changes per year from 2013 to date.

Thanks you

Further to your enquiry, please find copied below the response provided on
18^th March 2015.

Dear Mr Swanick

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

January 2013 – December 2013 there were 2094 children who were open at any
point in the year, and they had an average of 1.8 social worker
relationships in the year

January 2014 – December 2014 there were 2383 children who were open at any
point in the year, and they had an average of 1.6 social worker
relationships in the year

January 2015 – 23 February 2015 there were 1300 children who were open at
any point in the period, and they had an average of 1.1 social worker
relationships year

The reasons there would be a change of social worker is where an worker
leaves the employment of the local authority or where there is a plan for
long-term permanence and the change is from the child in need service to
the child in care and care leavers team.

Dear Mr Swanick

Regarding your request for a review regarding Halton’s response to your 2 recent Freedom of Information Requests, I can confirm that the response to both requests were sent to you within the timescale on 18 March 2015. However, these were sent to your personal email account rather than to the what do you know website who had submitted the request on your behalf.

Staff have been reminded to send responses to the address that the request has come from, not to other addresses that the authority may hold. I do not consider any further action is required.
