RESPONSE

1.    ESCC provides supervised contact for children who are looked-after,
whether accommodated or the subject of care proceedings. Also, children
whose welfare is a child protection matter and subject of a safeguarding
plan. We have some involvement in private law contact for SWs.

2.    East Sussex employs a team of contact supervisors in the Community
Family Work Service.

3.    Contact is offered across three dedicated contact settings in
Hastings, Hailsham and Newhaven. Every room provides play opportunities
with craft and games, some have garden space and each centre has disabled
adapted access to kitchen and bathroom facilities. Contact is offered
between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 to 4.30pm Fridays.

4.    Child focussed contact is provided at a frequency determined wither
in Court or by the Independent Reviewing Offer/ Safeguarding Chair.
Supervised contact is offered in the centres above. Additionally, contact
is supervised in Children Centres subject to risk assessment and also in
the community at play centres and parks.

5.    The CFW Service is provided within budget. No charges apply as we
are commissioned within our own service.

6.    There is a Practice Manager, two Senior Social Workers, three (full
time equivalent) Administrators across the county and forty-six CFWs
across the centres. There are twelve CFWs available on a sessional basis.
The cost is £1m.

7.    The service is not currently being sold however contact
accommodation was hired to another local authority last financial year.

8.    An agency contact provider offers weekend and out of county contact,
spot purchased in exceptional circumstances.

Council has not complied with the FOI Act in responding to your request,
