Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 8th October 2014. Your request has been
dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and is detailed below in italics with our
response in bold.
Our Response
The Freedom of Information Team has been provided with the following information in response to
your recent request on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council (NCC).
Please provide me with the following information.
1. The number of children taken away from their parents and placed in care by Northants County
Council in the last 12 months?
147 taken into care in the 12 months to 30 September 2014.
2. How many of those children have been returned to their parents?
41 of which have since returned home.
3. How many of those children are still in foster care?
85 of the 147 remain in foster care as of 30 September 2014.
4. How many of those children have been adopted?
None of the 147 have been adopted.

5. Please provide me with the last financial report of Northants County Council in relation to Social
Workers, children in care and on the at risk register.
We are unaware of the three subjects being in one report. Clarification was requested
from you on 10/10/2014 but to date this has not been received so we are unable to
answer this question.
6. How many children live within Northants County Council’s remit at this present time?
159,224 aged under 18 in the 2013 population estimates.
7. How many children are at present on the Northants County Council at risk register?
As at 30 September 2014, there were 832 children who were the subject of a Child
Protection Plan.
Please note, the above figures include only children taken from parents into care and so do
