Children from special needs school taken to a prison for PE

The request was partially successful.

Dear Independent Monitoring Boards Secretariat,

Please could you tell me where I can complain (and be taken seriously) about disabled children from a school for special needs being taken without their parents knowledge and consent to a prison for PE classes, and being handed over to convicted criminals to be taught by them during these visits?

Yours faithfully,

Barbara Richards

Rowe, John H, Independent Monitoring Boards Secretariat

Dear Barbara,

I would have thought your first port of call would be the school concerned and secondly the Governor of the prison where the children are taken.

Regards,

John Rowe

Dear Rowe, John H,
Thanks for the speedy response. The school I am talking about has already been investigated by Ofstead, but this issue has not been dealt with properly and I have since discovered that taking children from special schools to prisons for PE lessons has been going on in other prisons in the UK, not just this one.

There is another problem in as much that Stafford prison is to be turned into a sex offenders prison and that some of the people involved in the taking of children from the other prison are also involved in this project, which is very worrying indeed.

Thank you for replying to my FOR so speedily.

Yours sincerely,

Barbara Richards
