Apologies if my previous email was unclear. I wanted to know what time
period you wanted to know figures for. For example, do you want to know
the number of children who have been accommodated in the past financial
year or over a certain period of time?

Freedom of Information Act request - 2010/3792 - Section 17 of Children
Act 1989

I refer to your request for information relating to Section 17 of the
Children Act 1989 received on 27^th August 2010.

Please see the information in response to your questions provided below:

1.      The numbers of children who are being accommodated by your
Authority under section 17 of the Children Act 1989.

8 children

2.      The numbers of young people who are now 18 years old who were
accommodated by your Authority under section 17 of the Children Act 1989.

3 young people

3.      When was your internal guidance to Children's' services was
updated to reflect the decision of the Court in R(G) v London Borough of
Southwark [2009] UKHL 26.

The guidance used is the ‘Guidance to Children’s Services Authorities’
issued April 2010 by the Department of Children, Schools & Families.
