Christine Mason

Dear Croydon Borough Council,

I am writing this request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Under the local government Redundancy Payments Modifications Order that governs redundancy payments recipients must have left their employment more than a month before starting a new job. If they start work within a month and before the required 1 full calender month plus a day - they lose their entitlement to redundancy.

Could you therefore explain how Emma Peters, Executive Director of Planning was able to keep her "redundancy" payment when according to the draft accounts for 2011/12 she left the Council's service on 30th April 2011 yet she started at RegenFirst in May 2011, thus, not completing the required 1 month plus 1 day before resuming employment.

Could you explain this as it would appear to be a breach of the local government redundancy procedures.

I look forward to receiving your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Christine Mason
