Chief Constable Livingstone's location on Saturday 20 June 2020

The request was successful.

Dear Police Scotland,

The tabloid newspaper The Scottish Sun has quoted Chief Constable Iain Livingston in an interview about the Police handling of the "Glasgow United Against Fascism" / "Stand Up To Racism" demonstration on Saturday 20 June 2020, and the "kettling" of protesters widely photographed and reported in the media, and witnessed by many members of the general public.

The Scottish Sun claims:

'CC Livingstone added: "I do think some of the commentary is uninformed. I do think people are speculating, people are opining there and then without being present.'

Please tell me whether The Scottish Sun has accurately reported Chief Constable Livingston's comments.

Please tell me where Chief Constable Livingston was during and immediately after the protest in Glasgow on Saturday 20 July 2020. I am particularly keen to know where he was in relation to the police cordon which moved anti-racist protesters from George Square to the Gallowgate, and especially at the point in the Gallowgate just after a police horse lashed out at a member of the public on the West side of the Merchant City Clock Tower, but before protesters within the cordon started to be allowed to leave at the corner of the Gallowgate and High Street (Chief Constable Livingston will recall that this was the point where the cordon was "tightened", and the already limited opportunity for physical distancing was completely removed).

Yours faithfully,

John Street
