Response – The removal of chewing gum from our pavements is undertaken
using high pressure water lancing
 
2. What was the cost of *chewing gum removal (whether carried out in house
or contracted out) in:
a. 2017?
b. 2018?
c 2019?
Response – The removal of chewing gum is undertaken on an ad-hoc basis and
as such does not form part of any annual cleansing programme.

3. Do you contract out your *chewing gum removal services or is us
completed all in house?
Response – All street cleaning services including chewing gum removal
within Merton are provided on our behalf by our service provider , Veolia.
 
4. If outsourced, what is the renewal date of the cleaning contract?
Response - This is an eight year contract that commenced in April 2017,
expiring in 2025, with two further extensions each for 8 years (max total
contract length 24 years)
