Dear Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council,

We are researching the costs to your organisation for completing chewing gum removal, we have 5 simple questions.

*If you do not hold separate analytics for gum removal alone, please report on street deep cleaning/cleansing/power washing (not sweeping).

1. What primary method of removal do you use for *chewing gum removal:
a. High pressure water lancing
b. Chemicals/solvents
c. High pressure steam
d. Other (please state)

2. What was the cost of *chewing gum removal (whether carried out in house or contracted out) in:
a. 2017?
b. 2018?
c 2019?

3. Do you contract out your *chewing gum removal services or is us completed all in house?

4. If outsourced, what is the renewal date of the cleaning contract?

5. Please supply the name and contact details for the department responsible for managing this contract.

Thank you for your request for information relating to Chewing Gum removal
and Pavement Steam Cleansing which was received on 26 September 2019.

 

In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Information
Regulations 2004 the council will respond to your request within 20
working days, saying whether we have the information that you want, and if
there will be any charges. 

We may also extend the timeframe for a response by up to a further 20 days
(total of 40 working days) if your request is considered sufficiently
complex or voluminous.

If this this the case we will contact you to advise you of this.

 

If, for any reason, we cannot provide you with the information, we will
tell you why.

Chewing gum removal is part of a deep cleaning schedule in a specified
areas therefore the information you have requested is not recorded or held
information and is therefore exempt from disclosure under section 1 of the
Freedom of Information Act.

3. Do you contract out your *chewing gum removal services or is us
completed all in house?

 

The work is not contracted out.

 

4. If outsourced, what is the renewal date of the cleaning contract?
