1, the number of checks undertaken by the council of outsourced housing benefit decisions over the last two years
2, the proportion of checked decisions that were considered by the council to be erroneous
3, the efforts made by outsourced providers to prevent such errors from recurring.

Such checks are required under the Contracting Out (Functions of Local Authorities: Income-Related Benefits) Order 2002, rule 4.

I confirm that the Council holds information which meets the description contained in your request and the information requested is set out below.
The Council has not outsourced the assessment of housing benefit decision function now or in the past, this function is retained by the local authority. Our own benefit assessment staff and any agency staff used at busy periods are subject to a 4% management check of their assessment work as is recommended good practice. Any errors found are corrected and feed back into staff training

I hope that you are satisfied with the way in which your request for information has been dealt with. If not, the Council has decided that any complaint regarding requests for information that cannot be dealt with satisfactorily on an informal basis should be dealt with in accordance with its established complaints procedure.
