Dear Jamie,

Sorry I’ve taken a little while to get back to you.

Brancab is the Bedworth, Rugby and Nuneaton Citizens Advice Bureau, they
provide a valuable service to citizens of Rugby, providing quality assured
advice and information on a range of topics including welfare
benefits/welfare rights, housing, legal matters etc. The advice is free
(to citizens) confidential and of a consistent high quality.

WCAVA is Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action they deliver RBC’s
infrastructure support to local community and voluntary groups, this
includes supporting groups to have appropriate governance arrangements,
supporting them in accessing grants and funding, supporting them in
securing volunteers. These local groups then are able to support citizens
in their community, sometimes a geographic community, sometimes a
community of interest.

Mary Jane Gunn

Dear Mary Jane Gunn,

Please confirm where the money being granted to the charities originated and how were they chosen to receive the funds, e.g., does it come from the Exchequer with the express requirement that it is given to these charities, or is it taken from local taxation and the charities are chosen by a Local Goverment Officer or a Councillor?

I may have already sent a similar follow up; however, I do not appear to have a record.

Yours sincerely,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,
In this case the charities were funded from the General Fund and the Housing Revenue Account. I attach the Council Paper that approved these monies. The charities are not chosen by a Local Government Officer or a Councillor. These are payments for services provided to Rugby residents by appropriately qualified organisations.

Kind regards,
Mary Jane
