!Request Info, Independent Office for Police Conduct

Dear John Anderson

Thank you for your email in which you make a request for information.

Information about referrals to the CPS and outcomes of criminal proceedings is included in the data we publish annually in our Investigations outcomes reports. These are available on this page of our website:

https://www.policeconduct.gov.uk/about-u...

Our most recent report is for the year 2022-23. We have yet to retrieve and validate the data required for our 2023-24 outcomes report and expect this report to be published later in this financial year.

You ask “how many of those charges have resulted in a conviction”. Some of the outcomes of criminal and disciplinary proceedings covered in our report may relate to investigations completed and referrals made to CPS during the same year. However, the published data on referrals to CPS should not be compared with the outcomes of proceedings reported in the same year as there can be a significant time lag between the referral at the end of our investigation and any criminal case being prosecuted.

Please contact us again if you require an update on the publication of our 2023-24 investigation outcomes report.

Yours sincerely
