The request was refused by Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Dear Charity Commission for England and Wales,

The Charity Commission opened a statutory enquiry in 2015 to look at financial irregularities at Shepherds Bush Gurdwara. No accounts have been published since 2017 and the last accounts show an income of £69,686 versus expenditure of £201,708. Given that the official accounts show a huge loss, the Gurdwara should not be in operation. Given that the rental income of the associated properties is greater than the declared income, and that the majority of transactions are in cash, I am surprised that the investigation has not been concluded with any firm actions.

I have checked to see many trustees were elected in 2020, with a notable few who have been in role since 2013, which is before the statutory inquiry commenced:

GURVINDER KAUR RANDHAWA Trustee 05 July 2013 None on record
Harvinder Kaur Dulku Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
GURPREET SINGH ANAND Chair 08 July 2013 None on record
Manjit Kaur Gill Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Harmohan Singh Puri Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Satbir Singh Choudry Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Mandip Singh Sohal Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Charanjeet Singh Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Sukhbinder Singh Paul Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Manpaal Singh Anand Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Ranbir Singh Alg Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Preepinder Hayre Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
JASVINDER SINGH ALG Trustee 09 July 2013 None on record
Ramneek Kaur Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record
Rajvinder Singh Jagdev Trustee 01 March 2020 None on record

Q1) Under the FOI act, can you please advise why no action has been taken by the Charity Commission into what appears to be serious financial irregularities and the lack of any accounts?

Q2) Given the length of time that has elapsed, should the charity status be revoked or forensic analysis be carried out to determine whether fraudulent activity has taken place?

Yours faithfully,

Ali Ahmad
