Cell damage

stian alexander made this Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Justice

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Ministry of Justice should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Ministry of Justice,

Can you please let me have details of how many prisoners have been ordered to pay compensation for wilful damage to prison property (either in their own cells or in the wider prison establishment) over the past three years.

Can you let me know how many cases of wilful damage there have been for 2014, 2015 and 2016 and how much compensation has been paid by prisoners.

If possible can you let me know the highest amount of compensation paid and the lowest paid - and how much is currently owed by prisoners.

For point of reference see this article in the Daily Telegraph from Sept 2013 -

Yours faithfully,

stian alexander
