Dear Oxfordshire County Council,

I am making a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.
Please could you confirm the following statements:

1. Provide information on what will be done to the statue of Cecil Rhodes at Oriel College in Oxford University.
2. Provide information on where it will be removed, if it is to be removed.
3. Provide information on whether or not it will be moved to a museum.
4. Provide information on the steps taken by Oxfordshire County Council to protect this War Memorial from destruction.

Dear Mr Robertson,

 

Thank you for your correspondence received on 21 June 2020 in which you
asked for the following information:

 

1. Provide information on what will be done to the statue of Cecil Rhodes
at Oriel College in Oxford University.

2. Provide information on where it will be removed, if it is to be
removed.

3. Provide information on whether or not it will be moved to a museum.

4. Provide information on the steps taken by Oxfordshire County Council to
protect this War Memorial from destruction.

 

Your request is being considered and you will receive the information
requested as soon as possible and in any event within the next 20 working
days in compliance with the Environmental Information Regulations
2004/Freedom of Information Act 2000, unless an exception applies. This
means that the council will respond to you by 20 July 2020 at the latest.

 

Please note – COVID-19: during these unprecedented times, we will
endeavour to respond to information requests and where possible within
timeframes. However, this may not be possible because the Council will
necessarily need to prioritise its staff and resources on the delivery of
key services. The Information Commissioner recognises that this may occur
during this unprecedented time and [1]has given guidance. 

 

If appropriate, the information requested can be made available in
alternative formats, including other languages, Braille, large print, and
audiocassette. If you require any of these formats then please let me
know.
