CCTV Storage

We're waiting for Jay Rouf to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service,

Under the freedom of Information Act – I was hoping to obtain the following information:
Name(s) of person telephone number and email address of person responsible for managing CCTV and the Data. Who is responsible for purchasing CCTV and Data Storage of CCTV.
I also seek answers to the following questions:
How many cameras do you manage today More than 100? Or less than 100? Is that growing?
How do you store and manage your video today? (Network Video Recorders? Enterprise Storage?)
Has your company ever lost video, or experienced poor-quality playback of video files?
How critical is video to your company? What is the impact of not being able to access video or record video?
When was the last time you refreshed your surveillance storage hardware?
Do you have an upgrade/refresh date? If so when?
What is your budget for the refresh?

I write in response to your request for information, received and
acknowledged on 10 May 2018.

 

Decision

The information you have requested is held by the Devon & Somerset Fire &
Rescue Service (DSFRS).

 

Please find below the detail of the information you have requested along
with our response.

 

Request and Response

Name(s) of person telephone number and email address of person responsible
for managing CCTV and the Data.

The person responsible (Information Asset Owner) for managing CCTV is the
Head of Estates via 01392 872 200 and [1][email address]. As guided
by the Information Commissioner, we only provide the names of our most
senior/accountable members of staff. Please see [2]website.

 

Who is responsible for purchasing CCTV and Data Storage of CCTV.

The person responsible (Information Asset Owner) for procuring cameras on
buildings and storing subsequent CCTV images is the Head of Estates with
support of Procurement and Information Assurance Team.  

 

How many cameras do you manage today More than 100? Or less than 100? Is
that growing?

Below 100. Current project consideration for installation of cameras in
all DSFRS vehicles.  

 

How do you store and manage your video today? (Network Video Recorders?
Enterprise Storage?)

Local hard drive storage.

 

Has your company ever lost video, or experienced poor-quality playback of
video files?

No reported security events with regards to loss of video imagery.

No known issues to date relating to DSFRS purpose for the use of CCTV
Systems.

 

How critical is video to your company?

The use of CCTV is an additional security measure for the purpose of
prevention and detection of crime and disorder, apprehension and
prosecution of offenders, protection and safeguarding of Staff and Public
Safety, protection of DSFR Authority Assets and providing assistance with
civil claims.

 

What is the impact of not being able to access video or record video?

DSFRS would be unable to ascertain details of events and necessary
investigation/improvements.  

 

When was the last time you refreshed your surveillance storage hardware?

Phased approach in place to refresh / 70% of systems replaced or upgraded
in last 2 years.

 

Do you have an upgrade/refresh date? If so when?  

Will be updated as part of the maintenance contract for CCTV.

 

What is your budget for the refresh?

No standalone budget for CCTV. Maintenance costs consumed as part of
annual maintenance budget.

 

Review

You have the right to ask us to review this decision.  If you wish to do
this please set out your grounds for review in writing and send them to
the Information Officer at the Service Headquarters address or e-mail

Appeals

If you are still dissatisfied after a Service review you have the right to
