I refer to your recent enquiry for information held by the Council. 

Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act, the authority must
state whether or not the information exists and I confirm that we do hold
the information you requested.

Please find the information you requested below.

1)    The number of fixed CCTV cameras currently operated by the council
in public spaces.

Bedford Borough’s CCTV control room monitors 430 CCTV cameras located
across high footfall public spaces and 143 cameras located at various
local authority managed car parks.

2)    The total amount spent on CCTV provision by the council in the 2022
calendar year.

The financial spend is based upon the 22-23 year (Apr 22 – Mar 23) and is
the net cost of the entire CCTV platform including Employee, Contractual
and Facilities running costs of the site £346,127.84
