CCTV in primary schools

Sam jones made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Hello, sorry if it's a lot of questions but they all relate to the same query.

When did WBC start to use CCTV in primary schools to record children in classrooms and staff in its staff rooms?

Is it legal for WBC to also record audio on their cctv?

Is it also legal for WBC to record primary school age children getting changed into thier P.E kits in their classrooms?

If so what safety parameters are in place,
are there risk assessments in place and are these vailable for the public to see?

What firewalls/security are in place to prevent outside hackers gaining entrance to the network?

Who has access to the network?

Who was involved in the decision making of this?

How much money has this cost to install?

I have numerous other questions I would like answers for on this matter, but I dont want to bombard the council with them all at this moment.
Thank you

Yours faithfully,

Sam jones

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your recent FOI submitted under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.

Wirral Council Can confirm that this request would be for individual
schools to respond to, as we do not control the CCTV for schools.

Each school has CCTV installed and it is they who have the hard drive to
record any footage.

As far as we are aware, camera’s can only record visual and not audible

I trust this will be of assistance.

You have the right under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
to ask for an internal review if you are dissatisfied with the information
provided to you. Please direct any request for an internal review to
