Freedom of Information, Bradford City Council

Dear Jamie

I refer to your request dated 29^th November 2021 under the Freedom of
Information Act asking to supply the following information:

1. The total number of CCTV cameras currently operated by the council

2. The total amount spent on the installation and maintenance of CCTV
cameras in the 2020 calendar year

The Council’s response is set out below:

The Council does not hold this information in a centrally coordinated area
therefore figures below are from individual service areas.

Environmental Health:

2 cameras

No spend recorded in 2020

Neighbourhood & Customer Services:

54 cameras

Spend recorded in 2020 was £12,334.09

CCTV Department including Sport & Culture:

424 cameras on the main street system

986 cameras on buildings

The Council is unable to provide spend information as all repairs and
replacements are paid for out of general maintenance budgets alongside
security, fire access control and other items. Therefore, we would need to
inspect every invoice to try and find out what costs were allocated to
CCTV.

I can confirm that the Council holds information falling within the
description specified in your request. However, we estimate that the cost
of complying with your request would exceed the appropriate limit of £450.
The appropriate limit has been specified in regulations and for local
Government it is set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one
person spending 18 hours in determining whether the Council holds the
information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act the Council is not
obliged to comply with your request and we will not be processing your
request further.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, if you are not
satisfied with the reply to your request you can ask for a review. A
request for a review must be submitted within 40 working days in writing
to the Corporate Information Governance Team, City of Bradford
Metropolitan District Council, City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford, BD1
1HY or by emailing [1][Bradford City Council request email].

If you are still not satisfied with the outcome of the internal review you
have the right of appeal to the Information Commissioner who can be
contacted at:
