Kevin Jay, Cambridge City Council

Dear Mr Taylor

In your freedom of Information request received on 17th June 2013 you
asked for information in relation to the billing and collection of the
Cambridge BID Levy.

Our responses to your three questions are:

1. The total amount billed to date is £725,925.10, the due date was
10th April 2013, the amount outstanding as at close of business on 10th
April 2013 was £557,260.13, representing approximately 617 individual
accounts (out of 1083 billed).

2. As at 9th July 2013 £58,005.79 was outstanding from 123 Bid levy
payers. Currently over 92% of the bid levy has been paid.

3. Cambridge City Council on behalf of Cambridge Bid Company Ltd will
continue to pursue all unpaid bid levies in accordance with
legislation.
During May 261 reminder notices were issued and we are in the
process of reviewed the remaining outstanding cases with a view to
deciding on the next appropriate course of action against those
businesses that have not paid the Bid Levy. Legal action has not
commenced although this option will be considered in due course. The BID
company is keen to avoid legal proceedings wherever possible and we hope
that direct engagement with businesses/organisations about the BID and
its activities will prompt a number to settle their outstanding levy
invoice without the need for legal action.

I hope this information is of some help but if you are not happy with
the way in which your request has been dealt with please contact Alison
Cole, Head of Revenues and Benefits. You may also contact the
Information Commissioner if you are still not happy with the way your
request has been dealt with. The Information Commissioner’s address

Cheshire SK9 5AF

Yours sincerely
