Cautions, warnings and prosecutions for riding an electric scooter on the public highway

The request was refused by Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

Dear Metropolitan Police Service (MPS),

Dear MPS,

Please provide details of the number of recorded cautions and prosecutions, over the past 12 months and within Metropolitan London, for using an electric scooter on a public highway, (or the pavement), contrary to Section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1998 together with Section 72 of the Highways Act 1835 (reference https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/e-s...).

I have never seen an electric scooter rider stopped by the police let alone cautioned or charged; but I have seen two very near miss serious accidents this week.

It is only a matter of time....

Yours faithfully,

Nick Kendall
