Cause of recent signicant water shortages and low pressure in and around Northend (RG9)

Dear Thames Water,

We have lived in Northend (RG9) for almost a year and over the past three months or so we and the rest of the village have had significant issues with our clean water supply. On numerous occasions we have had no water and on other occasions we have had very low water pressure. There are young families and elderly residents in the village and these frequent water shortages are becoming intolerable.

I am writing under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 to request that you provide me with any information you may have as to the causes of these frequent water shortages (looking at the period of 1 January 2018 to now) and any work carried out or proposed to address these shortages including discussions with nearby major business / commercial users whose usage may be affecting the supply to residential customers in Northend.

I have only just seen your message dated 2 July (I received no email or notification that it had been sent) and I have copied it out below. I did not put my address in the initial request as it was on a public platform.

I do not accept that the absence of my address or postcode will have delayed you at all and whilst I am happy to provide you with my address I will not accept any delay in receiving the information I have requested.

Northend is a tiny village and TW is fully aware of the issues as we have been speaking to members of TW's board and customer service reps on a daily basis. In fact TW has a permanent presence in our village now in the form of both a tanker and customer services gazebo. You can also check the BBC South news coverage of the issue and the front page of last week's Henley Standard for further assistance.
