I write in connection with your request for information dated 11^th March
2014 in which you seek access to the following information:


Q1. How much cash has your force seized under POCA in the last financial


2013-14 to date = £2,348,169.38


The City of London Police can neither confirm nor deny that it holds
additional information as the duty in section 1(1) (a) of the Freedom of
Information Act does not apply, by virtue of the following exemption:


Section 23(5) – Information provided by security bodies


Information is exempt by virtue of section 23 if it was directly or
indirectly supplied to the public authority by, or relates to, any of the
bodies dealing with security matters specified in subsection (3). The duty
to confirm or deny does not arise if, or to the extent that, compliance
with section 1(1)(a) would involve the disclosure of any such information.
This is class-based exemption and it is not necessary to demonstrate the
potential for harm to occur. It is also an absolute exemption and it is
not subject to an assessment of the public interest.
