I am requesting information under the freedom of information act. could you please provide information as following?

1. does your local authority use a bespoke IT software system to record/manage social care activities i.e. case management system for adult & childresn services ?
2. if no, is there ongoing planning to purchase a bespoke software system or develop in house system in the near future?
3. Describe the brief information of the current software system in use ?
4. what is the name of the software system (product name) and which company is it purchased from?
5. is this software system purchased outrightly or on contractual basis ? specify details.
6. what was the total capital cost of purchasing or developing this software system ?
7. What are the ongoing development and maintenance costs since purchase (annually)?
8. what is the structure of technical team managing this software system ?

Further to your request for information received on 16^th November 2017,
please see below response provided by Bournemouth Borough Council.

 

Response

 

1. Does your local authority use a bespoke IT software system to
record/manage social care activities i.e. case management system for adult
& Childrens services?

RESPONSE:  No, Bournemouth Borough Council uses an off the shelf software
package for case management recording.

 

2. If no, is there ongoing planning to purchase a bespoke software system
or develop in house system in the near future?

RESPONSE:  No, Bournemouth Borough Council are committed to using
configurable, off the shelf systems for social care case management
recording.

 

3. Describe the brief information of the current software system in use?

RESPONSE: Bournemouth Borough Council uses an off the shelf case
management system for both its Adults & Children’s Social Care services. 
This is used by social care teams for the recording of both case
management and finance related information. This information in turn is
used for both statutory returns and management reporting.

 

4. What is the name of the software system (product name) and which
company is it purchased from?

RESPONSE: RAISE is the name of the software. Care works are the software
supplier. Northgate are the primary contract holder and hosting provider. 

 

5. Is this software system purchased out rightly or on contractual basis?
specify details

RESPONSE:  The licenses were purchased.  Hosting and software support &
maintenance are paid annually.

 

6. What was the total capital cost of purchasing or developing this
software system?

RESPONSE:  £1,334,030.31

 

7. What are the ongoing development and maintenance costs since purchase
(annually)?

RESPONSE:  Annually costs amount to £275,002 which includes Hosting,
Support & Maintenance for both Adults & Childrens Raise systems.

 

8. What is the structure of technical team managing this software system?

RESPONSE:  Adults RAISE is supported by the Central IT Service Team.
Childrens RAISE is supported by a Service based Support Team. 

Both provide general support and development activity, however more
complex requirements/infrastructure issues are actioned by the system or
hosting provider.
