Dear Mr V Choksi,

 

I am writing in response to your request for information (ref FOI 44931).

 

The relevant Council Service(s) has searched for the requested information
and our response is as follows.

                                  

 

 

1. does your local authority use a bespoke IT software system to
record/manage social care activities i.e. case management system for adult
& children services ? Yes.

 

2. if no, is there ongoing planning to purchase a bespoke software system
or develop in house system in the near future? N/A

 

3. Describe the brief information of the current software system in use ? 
There are two systems.  CareFirst is used by Adult services and was
purchased in 1999.  This is a complete case management system with client
files, finance and safeguarding.  It also holds details of all GPs, in
house and external staff and external agencies.  Tribal is used by
Children & Families and was purchased in 2009.  It has similar content to
CareFirst but does not have a finance module.

 

4. what is the name of the software system (product name) and which
company is it purchased from?  CareFirst for Adult Services and Tribal for
Children & Families.

 

5. is this software system purchased outrightly or on contractual basis ?
specify details.  On renewable maintenance contracts.

 

6. what was the total capital cost of purchasing or developing this
software system ?  The CareFirst purchase price cannot be identified
separately from all of the IT purchases in 1999.  Tribal cost £10,000 in
2009.

 

7. What are the ongoing development and maintenance costs since purchase
(annually)?  CareFirst annual ongoing annual costs are £235,000 and Tribal
are £18,000.

 

8. what is the structure of technical team managing this software system
?  There are two separate teams for each system.  Both teams have a
manager, a trainer, 2 developers and 2 support officers.
