Dear D Moore

RE: Your information request: R0000476

I write in response to your email of 24 January 2019 regarding your
request for information made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to
the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO).

Request:

You have recently advertised a number of one-day-per-week Clinical Advisor
posts (Dentist, GP, Consultant Physician and Consultant Psychiatrist):

[1]https://www.ombudsman.org.uk/about-us/jo...

The advertisements include this:

"Following appointment, new clinical advisers will participate in a short
induction programme designed to equip them with the skills, knowledge and
information they will need for their new role. This includes specific
training in our case management and IT systems, with appropriate support
from an assigned mentor and lead clinician."

1.Please provide me with all written materials successful candidates
receive relating to “specific training in our case management and IT
systems".

2.Please also provide all information available to assigned mentors and
lead clinicians to assist them in providing support to clinical advisors.

Response

1. No written training material relating to case management and IT systems
is held. The system training which the successful candidates will receive
is provided on a one to one basis specific to the requirements of the role
around how to find clinical advice requests, how to search for medical
records and how to save advice on the system before logging that clinical
advice has been completed. No written training material is provided.

2. Please find attached an induction and guidance document which is
available to assigned mentors and lead clinicians and outlines the role of
the Internal Professional Advisor (IPA), general PHSO information
including the probationary period, quality assurance along with mentor
support for clinical advisors.

A number of redactions have been made to the document to remove any staff
names which are below Associate Director (AD) level. This information is
exempt under Section 40(2) of the Act as this information is personal to
others and therefore constitutes personal data. Disclosure of such
information would breach principle (a) of Article 5(1) of GDPR where
personal data must be processed fairly and lawfully. Furthermore, the
conditions as set out in Article 6 1(f) of the GDPR are not met. We do not
consider it would be fair to disclose this information and nor would the
individuals have a reasonable expectation that such personal information
would be disclosed.

If you believe we have made an error in the way I have processed your
information request, it is open to you to request an internal review.  You
can do this by writing to us by post or by email to
[2][Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman request email]. You will need to specify that the
nature of the issue is and we can consider the matter further. Beyond
that, it is open to you to complain to the Information Commissioner’s
Office ([3]www.ico.org.uk).

Yours sincerely
