Care Act and the use of Advocacy
Dear West Sussex County Council,
Research information requested on Care Act implementation and Care Act Advocacy referral numbers in your locality
I am Richard Umpleby, volunteer working with Cloverleaf Tameside Advocacy Service, Greater Manchester.
I have been requested to conduct some research on the following areas:
1. We are looking to see how the Care Act 2014 is being implemented nationally in England and Wales.
We would like to know your assessment of this in your Local Authority?
2. We are looking at how many Local Authorities have commissioned for Care Act Advocacy in England and Wales.
We would like to know how effective your commissioning has been to ensure Care Act Advocacy is funded?
We would like to know who your local advocacy providers is and how many referrals have been taken up by them?
I would appreciate, if you could either direct me to the appropriate person in your local authority who may be able to help me or provide any appropriate information to help me with my research.
Many thanks for your time and support.
Yours faithfully,
Richard Umpleby

Please note that in 2012 the County Council adopted a position in

Council's responses may be published on the Council's website in a
suitably anonymised form. This is in addition to the individual response
