Carbon Monoxide Levels and Exposure at 36 and 38 King Street, Clydebank, G81 1DX
Dear Scotia Gas Networks Limited,
Work reference 117198597 -
SGN Officer C. Hutton responded to an emergency at 38 King Street, Clydebank on 2nd May 2020. C. Hutton also left without returning my yellow gas box key and I would appreciate if this could e returned. I tried to telephone but Covid-19 measures make this almost impossible. I did email through SGN contact us procedure last week but it is now over two weeks since this incident and I am in an impossible position with the NHS and health care providers.
Carbon monoxide (CM) was detected in my loft but identified at source coming from my neighbour; Heather Malcolm of 36 King Street's gas fire. My GP has checked my SGN report for 38 King Street and does not agree I was subject to high levels of CM poison from the carbon creeping into my enclosed shower through a porous point in my bathroom. Aided by the suction and water flow from my high density boiler, in my humble opinion. My left lung felt as if it closed or collapsed whilst in my shower on Saturday 2nd May 2020 and only stopped when I opened my shower enclosure.
Can you provide me with a copy of all information on carbon monoxide levels and exposure recorded in both properties on this date and any information pertaining to the incident at 38 and 36 King Street on the above dates to identify the level of exposure my family and I were subject to over the winter of 2019/2020 please?
Please forward by email to both [email address] and my work email at Evelyn.O'[email address]
Yours faithfully,
Evelyn O'Donnell

Dear Scotia Gas Networks Limited,
Can you confirm you have received my enquiry from me and confirm why I haven't received a response from your organisation please?
I cannot get my insurance company to investigate the level of damage or the repairs required until I can confirm the findings of 36 and 38 King Street CO farce drama I reported on 2nd May 2020.
Can you confirm something please or do I have to live in the damage and uncertainty for much longer?
Yours faithfully,
Evelyn O'Donnell

It transpires there was no CO detected in either properties on 2nd May when the engineer came to check. This was a result of me shutting down my boiler and asking my co-joining neighbours to turn off their gas appliances, immediately after I called the emergency gas service. The engineer was wearing a CO detector on his vest and as a result of my request to turn off appliances the CO had cleared by the time the emergency team got here. There were no major issues identified in my home or the other 2 houses in our block as we are co-joined in a mid-terraced building. However, there was a gas escape detected at my immediate neighbours (36) gas main at the front of our house and their gas fire hadn't been serviced in what appears to be a very long time. I await the FOI response to determine the length of time we have been exposed to this CO poison by my neighbour as the won't respond to "when was fire serviced and (condemned) chimney cleaned and relined?". 20 days later I am still waiting on an answer from my next door neighbour to determine the level of damage to our health.
