FOI, South Lakeland District Council

Dear Nick,

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Council under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. You asked
the following:

1.       Since the implementation of the "early bird" parking scheme has
there been a positive or negative impact on parking revenues for the
periods October 2017 and November 2017 relative to the same periods in
2016.

2.       Since the implementation of the "early bird" parking scheme has
there been a positive or negative impact of traffic warden revenues for
the period October 2017 and November 2017 relative to the same periods in
2016.

I can confirm the following:

1.       I have included the comparison information for the Westmorland
Multi-storey Car Park and all SLDC managed car parks in Kendal for the
time periods requested. The final column indicates any positive or
negative impact:

Oct-16 Nov-16 Total for Oct-17 Nov-17 Total for Change %Change

Multi-Storey £54,399.58 £54,863.83 £109,263.41 £54,032.83 £54,953.75 £108,986.58 -£276.83 -0.25%

Car Parks

2.       The Council employs Civil Enforcement Officers who were
responsible for the Council’s off street car parks. We are unable to
provide the figures for the revenue for Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) paid
within this time period as the income can include PCNs  issued several
months ago, which can’t be separated out and wouldn’t be meaningful. I can
show the numbers of PCNs issued in Kendal Car Parks in the time period
specified:

| Year | October | November |
|---------------------+------------------------+-------------------------|
| 2016 | 477 | 421 |
