Dear Jamie Dixon,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 Acknowledgement

Thank you for your communication of 26 April.

We have allocated the above reference which you should quote if you need
to contact us.

We will arrange for a reply to be sent to you which will either comply
with our obligations under Freedom of Information Act or, if we think it's
an enquiry that we don't need to address under the terms of the Act, let
you know why. If it is the latter we will, if possible, pass it on to a
more appropriate part of the Department for answer.

Dear Jamie Dixon,

We are writing in response to your request for information, received 26
April.

Yours sincerely,

HMRC Freedom of Information Team

Dear FOI Team,

Thank you for your previous response and for directing me to the asset type breakdowns found in Table 7 of the Capital Gains Tax National Statistics.

Please could you advise whether cryptocurrency would be considered a "financial asset" in the data in Table 7?
Specifically, if it would therefore be included in the data referred to as "All Financial Assets" in Table_7_1 and "Other Financial Assets" in Table_7_2 (listed in the tabs of the aforementioned Table 7).

If you have any questions or need any clarification about this please let me know.

Yours sincerely,

Jamie Dixon

HM Revenue and Customs
