Capacity building for Thailand

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Home Office should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Home Office,

Please provide a complete record of the UK’s capacity building portfolio in Thailand related to immigration and border management during the last 5 years ending in December 2016. Specifically, I would like to know:

1) What training has RALON provided to local authorities in Thailand between January 2011 and December 2016? Please be sure to include the year the training took place and the purpose of the training (e.g. forged document detection, immigration crime investigations, intelligence training, human trafficking detection, etc.). Please also include the Thai departments or agencies which received the training (e.g. the Department of Justice, the Immigration Bureau, the Border Patrol Police, the Central Investigation Bureau of the Royal Thai Police, etc.).

2) What training, if any, has Border Force provided to local authorities in Thailand between January 2011 and December 2016? Please provide the year and purpose of the training as well as the relevant Thai agency.

3) What, if any, equipment or funds has the UK government donated to relevant Thai departments or agencies for the purpose of strengthening their immigration and border management capacity between January 2011 and December 2016 (e.g. IT equipment, fraud detection equipment, etc.)? Please provide the year, purpose of the equipment and the Thai agency which received it.

Yours faithfully,

N Ostrand
