Capacity and monitoring of the protect wharf at Port Ramsgate

We're waiting for Stephen Byrne to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Kent County Council,

1. The aggregate processing capacity of the safeguarded wharf at Port Ramsgate is classified as 'small' by the Crown Estates - that is an annual processing capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes. Can you advise if there is a planning limitation, or indeed any limitation, on the annual processing of this facility and has any request been receive from the operators of the facility or any other body to increase the existing aggregate processing capacity at the port?
2. Is this facility, which is adjacent to an environmentally sensitive area, subject to any environmental monitoring and, if so, what monitoring takes place, how frequently and by what body.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Byrne

Dear Kent County Council,

Thank you for the response to my FOI in which you state that you do not have information concerning the processing capacity parameters for the safeguarded wharf at Port Ramsgate.
1. Am I correct in assuming that capacity increases are not therefore a planning matter for KCC
2. Does this imply that the capacity of a safeguarded wharf can be increased to any level without planning approval?

Yours sincerely,

Stephen Byrne

Good afternoon,

My apologies for the lateness of my reply.  I have forwarded your enquiry
to the relevant officer, and I will be in touch as soon as I have a reply.
