Canning Town - new supermarket status

The request was successful.

Dear Newham Borough Council,

Please, can you provide all communicate and update on the latest discussions with Morrisons and Hallsville Quarter scheme (developer Bouygues Group) to open a store in Canning Town?

This has been marketed and stated by the council many times that a new supermarket (Morrisons) was due to open a new store in Hallsville Quarter scheme by 2018 but there have been no updates provided in the last year.

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Khan

Newham Borough Council

Thank you for your request.

In order that we may proceed could you please clarify and refine the scope of your request.
Reference to 'discussions' is too general in nature to enable us to source the requested information.

Could you please provide an identified time scale for information and refine as to the information you require. Your request relates to communications between Morrisons and Bouyges Group - which the Council may not be party to.

We await your response.
Kind regards

Dear Newham Borough Council,

What is the latest opening date of the new supermarket?

Is Morrisons still opening a store or not?

If Morrisons is not opening a store, which other supermarket has expressed interest?

If no supermarket has expressed interest, what use will be made of the proposed retail space?

When is the council planning to update the public?

Yours faithfully,

Sarah Khan
