Canary Wharf Pier - Permitted Uses/Hours of Operation
Dear Tower Hamlets Borough Council,
Canary Wharf Pier is currently used for 'Commuter ferry services' with restricted hours of operation as identified in the Application Form for the addition of two additional floating pontoons - PA/07/03044.
Is a planning application required to use Canary Wharf Pier for uses other than for 'commuter ferry services', or increasing the operational hours stated in the application form which accompanies PA/07/03044?
As a commuter ferry service, the pier is currently used by residents and office workers, which generally will not be making use of other forms of transport to and from the pier.
If the pier suddenly became an embarkation/disembarkation facility for a 1500 passenger party boat, the use requirement would most likely extend beyond the hours quoted on the application form. There would also be a impact on the local roads with the requirement for PHVs and Uber type vehicles at unsocial hours.
Would Tower Hamlets take appropriate steps to prevent a public nuisance to nearby residents, by requiring planning approval for non commuter vessels to operate from Canary Wharf Pier?
Yours faithfully,
Ralph Hardwick
