Can i smoke cannabis for my chronic pain
Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,
I have chronic pain can i smoke cannabis before i go to sleep and still keep my license
Yours faithfully,
Mr smith
Dear Mr Smith,
Thank you for your e-mail requesting advice. DVLA's Drivers' Policy Group have provided the following advice to give to you:
Drivers must notify the DVLA if they persistently misuse drugs or are dependent on them. If our medical enquiries confirm this, a licence will be revoked.
If cannabis has been prescribed for pain relief, you should seek the advice of your doctor about how you will be affected. There is also detailed online guidance on fitness to drive, which they can view at the following link:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...
It is a driver’s responsibility to decide whether their driving is, or might be, impaired on any given occasion, as it is an offence to drive while impaired by drugs. If in doubt you should not drive.
I hope this is helpful.
Kind Regards,
David A Morgan
