Calling an 0845 number

Alex Smith made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

There seems to be some confusion over clients/users of Job Centres, etc as to the costs of calling 0845 numbers (either the Job Centres or other departments under your 'umbrella') as to which network charge what amount. I believe some calls from a mobile are free to some of the 0845 numbers and some are charged at a 'local' rate, whilst yet more are charged at the providers normal call charge.
Is it possible to know what networks get free calls and to which services under any DWP services regarding employment (JSA) and Support Allowance (ESA).

Yours faithfully,

Alex Smith
