Dear Mr Harris,

Further to your request for information, about call-signs and fleet cars,
I have been asked for clarification regarding the information required
about fleet cars.   and am dealing with under the terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.

The number of fleet cars currently used by the Brigade – do you want to
know all fleet cars whether owned or leased by Buckinghamshire Fire and
Rescue Service (BFRS)?

The cost of these cars on an annual basis – what costs are you looking for
annual lease costs?  Maintenance costs?

The number of cars sold on to staff members after the lease has expired
(If Known) Any cars sold to staff is between the leasing company and the
staff member and is therefore information no held by BFRS.

The number of cars retained by staff members after leaving the service.
As above, if a car is sold to a member of staff the arrangement is between
the leasing company and the staff member and is therefore information no
held by BFRS.

As to your request for information re call signs.  Whilst this information
is held by BFRS we will not be releasing it as BFRS is a category 1
responder and part of the critical national

infrastructure, disclosing specific information relating to call signs for
appliances and officers could potentially assist an enemy, and threaten

the Health and Safety of identifiable personnel.  Therefore information on
call signs for appliances and officers are considered exempt under FOIA
Section 23(1)(3) Information supplied by, or relating to, bodies dealing
with security matters, section 26(1)(a)(b) Defence and section 38(1)(b)
Health & Safety.

I am however happy to provide information about BFRS fleet cars once you
clarify your request.

If you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting
request reference 1126.

Yours truly

Dear Barry, Gerry,

I wish to question your responce. Call sign information is currently listed on your website for your applicances. I do not wish for officer call signs nor the station they are assigned to however a list of all officer car call signs and applicance call signs will suffice.

On the recipt of fire reports all such infomation is listed regardless if it is a officer car or a fire engine attending the incident so under FOI this information has been placed into the public domain and would be covered under the FOI.

Therefore I again ask can I please have a list if all call signs and the station they are attached to. Along with a list of call signs for all officers cars.

Yours sincerely,

James Harris

Dear Mr Harris,

Further to your request for a review of the handling of the parts of your
request, related to call signs, I can confirm that I have completed the
review and my findings are as follows.

‘Red fleet’ vehicle call-signs are referenced on the incident pages of the
Fire Authority website and therefore as this information has been made
available please find the attached list of ‘red fleet’ vehicle call-signs
and the stations at which they are located.

Officer vehicles are not assigned call-signs.  Call signs are assigned to
the officer and not to their vehicles.

I hope that this information will be of assistance to you. However if you
are not content with the outcome this review, you may apply directly to
the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner
can be contacted at:
