Our ref: IM20140907-01

Date: 09 September 2014

Dear Mr Green

Freedom of Information Act 2000

Thank you for your request for information dated 07 September 2014; 14:40,
which was received by the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service on 08
September 2014.

Your request is as follows:

I would like to request a list of call signs for your fire engines please

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service response:

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service would not provide call signs.  This
information is exempt from the right of access under Section 31 Law
Enforcement of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Section 31

We are of the opinion that S.31 Law Enforcement is applicable to this case
as releasing the withheld information would be likely to prejudice the
prevention or detection of crime (s.31(1a)).  The release of a list of
call signs into the public domain would create a major vulnerability in
our aim to protect our valuable assets and maintain the effective
operation of our local and national emergency provision.  A list of fire
appliance call signs would present a major threat to our services and to
securing the health, safety and welfare of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
Service staff, visitors and members of the community that we serve
(s.31(2i)).
