Dear London Camera Safety Partnership,

Whilst it is accepted that the Gatso unit itself requires a Calibration Certifiacte,(valid at the timne of an offence)is it a legal requirement that the Roadmarkings, the secondary method of establishing a vehicles speed, require a valid calibration certificate for the same period to secure a conviction?

Yours faithfully,

C.F.EVANS

Dear  Mr/ Ms Evans

Thank you for your email dated 11 March 2012.

I can confirm that since the London Safety Camera Partnership (LSCP), of
which Transport for London (TfL) is a partner, started installation and
maintenance of Gatso Radar Speed Camera (RSC) sites in 1992, all Secondary
Check Marks (SCMs) have always been positioned 2 metres apart.

Calibration certificates for SCMs at Speed Camera Sites in Greater London
have been mandatory since September 2007 for all new and refurbished
sites.

The TfL specification that all our contractors adhere to when they carry
out the works has not been changed or adjusted since 1992.

I thank you for your correspondence and trust that the above resolves your
enquiry satisfactorily.

Yours sincerely
