I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'Calculation of Employed Earnings for Universal Credit'.

The Department seem to have misunderstood my request. I am well aware of the various RTI data items, and am also aware of which data items are passed on to DWP by HMRC.

However, none of the RTI data items transferred to DWP directly correspond to the net income figure required by UC.
For example, data item #59 - "Pay after statutory deductions" is the only net income figure provided by HMRC, but it is not the correct net income figure for UC purposes, as it:
1) includes deductions for student loans,
2) includes additions for BiKs which have been payrolled, and
3) does not include deductions for employee pension contributions under relief at source arrangements.

My request, therefore, was for details about how the UC computer system calculates the net income figure (as required by UC) by reference to the RTI data items received from HMRC.
